Wake of Dust
Perry Rhodes took some time away from traveling and playing music to move into a rundown meth house in a nowhere part of the California high desert with his partner Jessy Easton to help research and gather stories for her memoir. “We both had rough childhoods in dusty nothin towns that we run from, the first chance we got. We both had nothing and worked hard to build new lives, to forget the past but sometimes you’ve gotta go back. Sometime, to keep moving on, you have to remember.” The house, where Jessy’s mother called home was chaos and seemed to grow worse by the day but somehow through strangers constantly coming and going*, the heat, the filth and police lights he found beauty, creating and album inspired by the true, unwavering love of a young girl who longs to know her wild child mother*.
The album Wake of Dust paints the contrast and struggles of getting out to create a better life and going back to understand.
